Cedarkirk Events Confirmation Retreats**: The two confirmation weekends provide participants with opportunities to meet peers from across Florida who are pursuing the confirmation process in their home churches. In the past, groups have created mock sessions, participated in forming new church developments, and explored mission in the church throughout the world. Participants will also have the opportunity to reflect on the confirmation questions and hear how a wide variety of young and older people respond to them. Finally, participants will return home with knowledge of what distinguishes Presbyterians from other denominations. (Two events, Spring, Rustic Cabins) Senior Adult Retreats: This event, for adults 55 and older, provides an opportunity for great fellowship. This weekend highlights good food, time for conversations, and the leadership of an inspirational speaker. There will be time for indoor relaxation as well as outdoor options like canoeing, nature walks, and horse shoes. Whether you want to just get away for quiet or want to meet new people, come join us for some rejuvenation. (Two events, Spring and Fall, Lodges) Spring Bash**: Designed for Sunday school classes to get a taste of Cedarkirk, this spring event is nothing but fun and joy. Campers stay with leaders in rustic cabins after a late evening campfire including singing, storytelling, and s’mores. (Three events, Spring, Rustic Cabins) Falltastic**: Because of the success of Spring Bash, Cedarkirk decided to offer a fall event with the same amount of merriment. In this Friday to Sunday weekend, youth groups will enjoy many camp activities, including the climbing wall or high ropes, games, swimming in the pool, a campfire, and a line dance. Campers will have time to plan together and meet youth from other churches. This retreat is great for small youth groups looking for a connection with other churches. (One Events, Fall, Rustic Cabins) Metropolitan Ministries Retreat: This annual retreat is for the residents at Metropolitan Ministries, a non-profit organization in downtown Tampa. For three days, Cedarkirk opens its doors to the shelter residents for a time of fun and relaxation. During the Christmas season, a time that can be particularly difficult, campers enjoy the camp life as they get away from the city and relax in the country. This retreat relies on the Cedarkirk community for donations. If you are interested in donating or volunteering for this event, please contact Mark Orendorf. Christmas International House: Cedarkirk serves as one of the many hosts for this important ministry. “CIH is a Christian ministry designed to offer hospitality to students during the Christmas holidays. Through the hospitality of churches and civic groups, we witness to the reality that, behind diverse manners of dress, religious affiliations and political ideologies, everyone stands together as one human family. This is a peacemaking program. It gives students an opportunity to visit in an American home and to become acquainted with different areas of the country. It gives them a chance to express their feelings about the United States and find explanations for cultural differences they have observed. Students and hosts develop friendships and learn how to exchange ideas and develop relationships with people who come from countries with different ideologies." If you are interested in participating, volunteering, or donating, please contact Mark Orendorf (See Christmas International House for further information: http://www.christmasih.org).** This is a group event. Cedarkirk requires a 1:8 ratio, chaperone to campers, per gender represented. If you are interested in signing up please contact your church office.
